
Ingredients

1 cup lukewarm water

2 tablespoons white sugar

2 teaspoons dry yeast

½ teaspoon kosher salt

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
½ cup turbinado sugar (or brown sugar)

1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
-
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

The dough

Combine water, sugar, yeast, salt, and oil in a bowl. Stir well.

Add flour and mix until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.

Knead the dough to remove bubbles, then let it rise for another 10-20 minutes.

The filling

Mix sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts for the filling.

Prepare the hotteok

Divide dough into 8 balls, flatten each one.

Add filling in the centre, then seal the dough into balls.

Cook the hotteok

Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook each ball for 30 seconds.

When the bottom is golden, flatten it with a spatula.
-
Cook until golden, then flip, lower the heat, cover, and cook for 1 more minute to melt the filling.
